Distinguished Lecture with Eric Bodden: On the Backbone of Agentic Software Engineering

AI agents are becoming increasingly fast and autonomous, but what about quality assurance? In the Distinguished Lecture on November 3, 2026 in Essen, Eric Bodden will present his research on scalable validation techniques designed to keep pace with the speed and volume of AI-based software generation.

The lecture focuses on the question of how coding agents can be guided towards higher-quality code through meaningful symbolic feedback. Between simple testing, which provides only limited evidence of software correctness, and the costly process of formal verification, Professor Bodden sees static analysis as a promising middle ground. In his talk, "Scaling Validation: The Backbone of Agentic Software Engineering," he will present current research approaches aimed at making static analysis more flexible, efficient, and precise.
