Technically and Organizationally Complex, Politically Sensitive: Distinguished Lecture on Cybersecurity

Questions of cybersecurity extend far beyond purely technical issues. In his Distinguished Lecture on 12 November 2026 at the Duisburg campus, computer scientist and policy expert Ingo Ruhmann will examine current threats, compliance challenges, and the political dimensions of digital security.

Ingo Ruhmann, a former adviser to the German Bundestag and the European Parliament, will first analyze the current threat landscape before addressing the challenges and pitfalls of lawful IT security management. He will also take a critical look at recent legislative developments and regulatory initiatives. The talk will then turn to the actors behind cyberattacks, their resources and operational tactics, as well as the challenges of reliably attributing such attacks. From this perspective, he will outline the security risks expected to shape digital infrastructures in the future.

Would you like to sharpen your view of emerging security risks and engage with the political challenges associated with digital security? We would be delighted to welcome you to the event. Further information and registration details can be found at:
